Can you believe I’ve said “goodbye” to Singapore, and tonight, I’m off to say “hello” to Dubai? It’s crazy how time flies, especially when travelling is involved!
I’m just waiting for my PickMe to arrive and take me to the airport, where I have a nice, short flight to Dubai, to meet my sister! It’s been 6 months and have I been missing her! It’s like university again: the distance only makes you closer.
In my week between holidays, my initial plan was to stay in Colombo with Tharshini and Kobika, however, my suitcase size did not allow me to pack for two completely different holidays and therefore I had to return to Jaffna for four days before coming back down to Colombo.
It has been a fairly uneventful week, filled with lots of film watching, chilling out and playing cards – I guess what you could say a school break was made for!
Despite being away from school, I have also been left with the task of ‘child sitting’ for much of my days, which has been fun; Reena, who I have been living with seems to not want to leave me, nor allow me to go too far for too long, and therefore I have been spending more and more of my time with her. We are now in a steady routine of cards, films and playing superheroes and villains. This involves wrapping towels around our heads and pretending we are wearing capes; if you saw my Instagram story, you’ll know what I mean. In this heat, it’s exhausting!
As well as this, I have also been able to get some Dust Project work done, which was much needed, including overseeing the child sponsorship letter progress – if you sponsor a child, your letters will be reaching you VERY soon. As well as this, I have been able to catch up on the majority of my essay marking for Wattala - Paalam International School, as students are now rushing to finish their general and intermediate level ACE qualifications.

Much like usual, my weekend was spent at church and running errands, as well as my weekly reading of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Esther. Her reading is coming on nicely, and she seems to be getting more and more gripped with the book, which I am so happy about. I think it has really captured her imagination.
Not much else to report apart from that this week I’m afraid, all I can say is how EXCITED I am for Dubai: VERY MUCH SO.
