Day 19 - ‘Pizza Hut for Dinner?’

Karen and Angel today took me through what my role could or may consist of if I was ever to spend extra time here in Sri Lanka with The Dust Project and The Paalam Project. I learned all about their roles within the schools and charity and it did completely open up my eyes to how much they both do and how they serve these communities.
I experienced the Wattala school today which is hugely different to Jaffna. There are more rules here, with the teacher’s word being taken as the final say and the regime of the ACE curriculum is done to the T. I think this is something they are hoping to roll out into Jaffna to ensure the same successes as they achieve here.
After school today myself and Sapthika along with Christine, Michaela and Abby (placement volunteers in Wattala School) all decided to head to Pegasus Reef for a mocktail and chats – a wonderful final gesture/goodbye to my time here in Sri Lanka.
We all got Pizza Hut for dinner, and a rather late night – I have just left the gang and said goodbye to them, they are heading to Jaffna tomorrow to spend a bit of time in the school there. Tomorrow I’m flying back to the UK, and to say I’m sad about it is the understatement of the century. Feeling hugely blessed to have had this experience again with The Dust Project.
