Today it all began!
We met and were introduced to the family who's house we will be helping to make a home. It is a beautiful site, with great access to Paalam School and church and not too far from Jaffna. The home is a great size and perfect for them to begin raising their family.
Ananth and Usha are two lovely people - their happiness and love for each other is amazing. They are clearly a perfect couple and Ananth worships the ground his wife walks on.
We sorted out the white wash, mixed it together (a rather messy job!), and managed to white wash the outside of the house before lunch. All in a hard day's work!

At lunchtime we were treated to a lovely curry, cooked by one of the local women who works in the girls' home. During lunchtime I spotted Esther leaving school, and of course I ran downstairs to see her. Her beautiful face just makes my heart skip a beat - she is wonderful, loving, caring and a total joy to be around. After she had finished her homework she came to the site to see us, our progress, and play a few ball games. She also bought one of her friends with her too. They seemed to enjoy climbing the trees around the house.
After lunch we white washed inside the house - we even finished at a reasonable time, including all our 'play-time' with the local children.
We then decided to head back to the hotel to clean up, and then headed to the girls' home to play some games. I took with me 'Globe Trotters' a game I LOVED as a child, which is a slightly harder version of Twister. The girls really seemed to enjoy it! Lots of laughing, which is always a good sign! After this, we grabbed some food and now we're resting before we head back to the site tomorrow! Should be a great week ahead with the whole gang.
